Blogging Through Sociology of Everyday Life (2021)

    In this world, people often think it would be impossible to live everyday life without electronic devices. It is especially thought that internet connection is a necessity since everyone is connected via social media and so. However, I wondered what would happen if I avoid from every technology and live one day without any of it.   The methodology of my experiment are as follows. The date I choose was June 30th, and I tried to live without 20th and 21st century technology. Since I banned myself from using phone or any electronic devices, I wrote a memo on paper with pen after every meal times. The time zone was right after breakfast, lunch, dinner. The observer was myself, writing down detailed daily routine per every one hour.   Now I would like to describe the day following 3 meal times.   There are many parks near the apartments in korea, where people can rest and enjoy activities outside. I especially like my hometown park because it is well- designed to walk along or go on a mini picnic with family. Since the weather is nice recently and I like to visit the park, I decided to conduct my observation project there.   The methodology for my observation are as follows. I went through it from March 1st to March 8th, for one week. The observer was myself, sitting on a particular bench that is placed on the branch road. The bench was placed between the entrance of a wide lawn and a walking road, so I was able to watch both sides. To briefly describe the place setting, there is a stream flowing beside the walking road, and it is well prepared to take a walk or ride bicycles with two tracks. Modern ads continue to sexualize and objectify women. A recent Burger King commercial have dehumanized female. The following ad was easily seen on the streets of Texas in 2018. Women have always been, and continue to be, sexualized in all forms of promotion, and these sorts of images are ubiquitous and normalized. Men and the companies targeting the male demographic, continue to portray women as sexual objects, implying that male dominance over females is the most powerful advertising tool. This kind of advertisement that degrades women to the level of the object they are attempting to sell further entrench our society with blatant rape culture. This culture is one where the female has been debased to such an extent that our society normalizes the abusive sexualization of the female gender.   I analyzed the advertisement poster of 'Schoolooks', a Korean school uniform brand. School Looks has set up many idols as advertising models so far. Among them, I analyzed the advertisement poster that singer Park Jin-young and girl group TWICE took together. Saturday, May 22, 2021  I didn't use the computer, TV, or cell phone that I usually use. I didn't use this technology, but I recorded it with paper and a fan. I recorded the discomfort and feelings at that time.  I had to wake up without an alarm. I overslept. No one was home, but I couldn't call anyone. When I was young, my mother wrote "I'll go to the mart" on paper, but now she doesn't because she can easily make calls. It was hard to talk to my friends because I didn't have a cell phone.
